EarthDaily’s Commitment to Canada’s Net-Zero Future

At EarthDaily Analytics, sustainability is not a separate initiative; it is a guiding principle in how we operate, innovate, and grow. As a Canadian company advancing Earth Observation and AI-ready analytics, we believe that leading the world in climate intelligence begins with accountability at home. Our purpose to help organizations capture, comprehend, and change the world is inseparable from our responsibility to measure and reduce our own impact on it.

In alignment with Canada’s Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act, EarthDaily has undertaken a comprehensive greenhouse-gas (GHG) inventory to establish our baseline and chart a realistic path to Net Zero. Partnering with Ostrom Climate, we developed our inventory in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the global standard for measuring and managing emissions across direct operations and value chains.

The data provides a clear view of our journey ahead. For our Canadian operations, EarthDaily’s total emissions in 2023 were 147.8 tCO₂e, primarily from business travel and employee commuting. By 2025, that figure is projected to reach 554.5 tCO₂e as we continue the build and launch phase of the EarthDaily Constellation, a ten-satellite system purpose-built for daily, global, five-meter Earth Observation. Roughly 70 percent of these emissions are associated with satellite launches, with air travel and employee commuting representing most of the remainder. Cloud computing remains a smaller, though growing, contributor as our data operations scale. This temporary rise reflects a short-term period of infrastructure expansion, not a long-term operational trend.

Once the constellation is fully deployed and operational in 2026, our annual emissions will decline sharply. The completion of our launch program allows us to focus on optimizing ongoing operations and reducing indirect emissions through targeted initiatives such as:

  • Energy-efficient cloud computing by partnering with providers powered by renewable sources and optimizing data processing workflows.

  • Smarter travel practices that reduce air miles through virtual collaboration, regional scheduling, and the use of direct flights.

  • Employee engagement to encourage low-carbon commuting options such as biking, public transit, and carpooling, alongside home-office energy efficiency.

  • Sustainable satellite practices that minimized launch-related emissions during constellation deployment, including the use of reusable rockets like the SpaceX Falcon 9, which reduced embodied launch emissions by up to 95 percent. As no additional launches are planned after 2026, this source of emissions will decline sharply moving forward.

  • Selective use of high-quality carbon credits to complement, but not replace, direct emissions reductions.

While our consultants recommended a 2040 Net-Zero target to account for rapid growth and increasing data demands, we see the potential to achieve this milestone sooner. Once our 2026 emissions are finalized, we will reassess our trajectory using verified data and updated reduction strategies. Our goal is continuous progress supported by measurable performance metrics, transparent reporting, and operational innovation.

Our commitment to Net Zero is about more than compliance. It reflects how we approach every part of our business—from designing sustainable satellite systems to delivering the data that helps others make better environmental decisions. Through daily, consistent, AI-ready Earth Observation, EarthDaily enables industries across agriculture, forestry, mining, insurance, and government to monitor environmental change, manage risk, and measure impact at a planetary scale.

Every pixel we capture and every tonne of carbon we eliminate moves us closer to a sustainable future for Canada and the world. EarthDaily is purpose-built for broad-area environmental intelligence and committed to achieving Net Zero through innovation, accountability, and action.
