EarthDaily and European Union Agency for the Space Programme team up to assist Ukrainian Agriculture
ESA Copernicus-enabled white paper and interactive tools help interested parties understand how space solutions enhance humanitarian support for the Ukrainian People.
EarthDaily has teamed up with the The European Union Agency for the Space Programme to make a significant impact on Ukrainian agriculture. This collaboration is part of the EUSpace4Ukraine initiative, launched by EUSPA in April 2022 in response to the war in Ukraine. The primary objective of this initiative is to connect EU Space innovation with humanitarian aid efforts, with a particular focus on leveraging technologies like Earth Observation (EO), Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and Satellite Communications (SatCom) to support Ukrainian farmers and mitigate the agricultural impact of the conflict. This collaborative effort underscores the critical role of Copernicus data in assessing the impact of conflict on agriculture. It provides timely and vital insights to aid humanitarian organizations and NGOs in their operations. The accessibility of Copernicus data, available to all, encourages its integration into diverse applications, fostering opportunities for innovation. EUSPA and partners including EarthDaily recently released a white paper detailing it’s efforts in the region Click here.
EarthDaily, with its expertise in Earth Observation, plays a pivotal role in this initiative. They utilize Copernicus Sentinel-2, Sentinel-1, and Sentinel-3 data to assess damage, analyze supply chains, and monitor crop health, offering valuable insights for precision agriculture, logistics, and crop insurance. EarthDaily is actively engaged in projects like Farmerhood and the Support Ukrainian Farmers Coalition (SUFC), demonstrating their commitment to supporting Ukraine’s agricultural industry in partnership with Land o Lakes, Cargill, Syngenta, and Kernel.
As EarthDaily and its partners continue to harness the power of Earth Observation and satellite technology, they aim to alleviate the challenges faced by Ukrainian farmers and help rebuild the agricultural sector in the wake of a devastating conflict. To delve deeper into this collaborative effort, we invite you to explore the EUSPA white paper that outlines their contributions and the impact of the EUSpace4Ukraine initiative on Ukrainian agriculture.
Earthdaily has offered assistance to the people of Ukraine in the following ways….
In-Season Monitoring and Prescriptions & Support Ukrainian Farmers Coalition (SUFC)
In support of our vital contributors to the global food supply chain, EarthDaily Agro has initiated a dedicated partnership to offer urgent in-season assistance. Our objective: To help Ukrainian farmers optimize 1.5 million hectares of farmland. Our progress: Over 150 Ukrainian farms are already benefiting, covering more than 500,000 hectares.
Teaming up with Ukrainian precision ag experts Agrilab, EarthDaily Agro is supplying free Earth Observation data to support consulting services. These efforts empower resource-challenged Ukrainian farmers to achieve successful harvests, even in the most challenging circumstances.
EarthDaily Analytics Corp. has launched the Support Ukrainian Farmers Coalition (SUFC), a global coalition comprising industry, NGO, and governmental partners, aimed at providing direct support to Ukrainian farmers. Partnering with Agrilab, a Ukrainian provider of precision farming solutions, SUFC initially offered free agricultural geoanalytics to Ukrainian farmers over millions acres to optimize production despite resource constraints imposed by the ongoing war. Given the success and growing interest, the Coalition expanded its efforts to include philanthropic support, seed and fertilizer contributions, strategic advisory based on satellite-derived management zones (SAMZ), and various support services including being a founding partner of the Farmerhood program FarmerHood
EarthDaily Agro is a founding partner of the Farmerhood project, a humanitarian initiative aimed at assisting Ukrainian farmers who are facing significant challenges. The project is founded on the principle of “farmers helping farmers” and focuses on five critical areas: providing agricultural inputs such as seeds and crop protection, offering precision farming technology for efficient resource utilization, supplying equipment fuel to sustain field operations, delivering restoration services to repair facilities and machinery, and offering financial support for various needs like rent and taxes.
EarthDaily Agro’s role within Farmerhood involves providing investment + top-tier analytics services, enabling Ukrainian farmers to monitor crop health, optimize resource utilization, and identify early warning signs of adverse environmental conditions. This support is instrumental in helping Ukrainian farmers maximize their crop yields, ensuring the stability of their operations, and contributing to global food security.
Who does Farmerhood Help?
